Sodium Hypochlorite also commonly known as liquid chlorine is often used as a disinfectant or bleaching agent. It is produced from reacting chlorine and sodium hydroxide. It is typically used in sanitation, odor control, microbiological control, bleaching and water treatment. Industry standard strength is between 10-12%. Sodium Hypochlorite appears as colorless or slightly greenish-yellowish watery liquid with a household bleach-like odor.
Shelf life: Shelf life stability is dependent on several factors including proper storage conditions.
Ferric chloride is a coagulant composed of
chlorine (either virgin or generated from
hydrochloric acid) and iron. Ferric Chloride
solution can be used in sewage treatment,
wastewater treatment or drinking water
production. It is also used to remove suspended
solids and particulate matter from water.
This flocculant effectively eliminates heavy
metals and sulfides, bleaches, deodorizes,
degreases, sterilizes, and lowers COD and BOD
levels in effluent water. It can also function as an
etchant for copper-based metals. Ferric Chloride
40% solution appears as dark brown viscous
liquid.
Shelf life: 2 years. Shelf life stability is dependent on proper storage conditions.
